Graduation

An application for graduation must be submitted within the first two weeks of a student's last semester. Please go to https://tumanage.temple.edu/gradapp/Login.aspx to submit an application to graduate and pay the graduation fee. There is a coursework summary form that should also be submitted by the student to their advisor before the application deadline. This form is available in the Student Resouurce Center, Ritter Annex 150.

The requirements to earn a bachelor's degree in the College of Education are:

  1. A minimum of 128 semester hours (credits). Students need to fulfill all program requirements AND have 128 credits. Credits from ROTC and preparatory courses, such as Math 15, do not count towards the total of 128 needed for graduation.
  2. The minimum grade point average that was in effect when you were admitted to candidacy. Secondary Education students must also achieve a minimum grade point average of 2.5 in their major concentration area.
  3. Completion of 30 of the last 45 semester hours of academic work at Temple University.
  4. Completion of specific requirements as detailed in each program area.
  5. Successful completion of the initial, intermediate, and senior performance assessments.

Honors

Beginning with May 2009 graduation, Latin Honors will be calculated using the following criteria:

  • Completion of at least 60 credits at Temple;
  • Summa Cum Laude: the top 2% of each college’s distribution of cumulative GPAs for the graduating cohort;
  • Magna Cum Laude: the next 5% of each college’s distribution of cumulative GPAs for the graduating cohort;
  • Cum Laude: the next 9% of each college’s distribution of cumulative GPAs for the graduating cohort;

Calibration of these grade distributions will be based on the previous five year’s cycle of August, January, and May graduations.
